Who We Are
AB3D (Association Burundaise pour le Développement, la Démocratie et les Droits Humains) is a Burundian non-profit civil society organization committed to advancing participatory democracy, human rights, inclusive governance and community-led development.
We work with citizens, communities, young people, women, public institutions and partners to create meaningful opportunities for participation, dialogue and collective action.
Our work is grounded in the belief that sustainable and inclusive development is stronger when people are informed, heard and able to contribute to decisions that affect their lives and communities.
Our Story
AB3D was created in 2017 and officially recognized in 2020, with a vision of strengthening civic participation and bringing practical approaches to democratic engagement closer to communities in Burundi.
Since its creation, the organization has worked to create spaces where citizens can learn about their rights and responsibilities, engage in dialogue and contribute to addressing challenges affecting their communities.
Over time, AB3D has expanded its work across civic education, community dialogue, youth leadership, inclusive governance, human rights and climate action. Through partnerships and locally grounded initiatives, the organization continues to develop approaches that connect civic participation with practical community action.

AB3D works to promote inclusive democracy, human rights, transparent governance and sustainable community development in Burundi. We empower citizens, especially young people and women, to participate in decision-making, defend their rights and contribute to resilient and sustainable communities.
